What is The Stock Pile?

The Stock Pile (TSP) is a unique organization that gathers new and gently used building materials in a warehouse and sells them to low to medium income households at a fraction of the cost. Families can improve their homes, the housing stock in our community is improved and good building materials stay out of landfills.  Guest pass coupons for a day of shopping without being a member are also offered periodically.

Where can I find The Stock Pile warehouse?

The Stock Pile is located 7 blocks south of Aultman Hospital at 1387 Clarendon Avenue SW (at the intersection with Navarre Road) in Canton Ohio.  The light blue warehouse is easily accessed from Routes 77 and 30.

How do I join The Stock Pile?

Memberships are free and qualified members include: low to moderate-income residents and non-profit agencies such as: housing providers, churches, theater groups, homeless shelters etc.  Members must qualify with the appropriate verification of income to belong to The Stock Pile. Eligible members can bring in last year’s tax package, including W-2’s, or a statement of monthly income.  For more information please call 330-455-4585.

How do I donate to The Stock Pile?

The Stock Pile can pick up larger donations by appointment at no charge to the individual or organization or donors may arrange to drop off donations.  Both drop offs and pick-ups may be scheduled by calling (330) 455-4585.  The Stock Pile is a 501c3 charitable organization, and all donors receive an itemized receipt for tax purposes.

Business donors may receive tax deductions in accordance with IRS Code Section 170e3 for appreciated property.  The Stock Pile is always looking for:

  • New Carpet
  • Unopened Paint
  • Plumbing Fixtures
  • New Insulation
  • Hardware
  • Tile
  • Brick

  • Appliances less than 5 years old

Who can shop at The Stock Pile ?

At this time, only low - moderate income families and non-profit agencies qualify for membership and shopping at The Stock Pile.  Non-members can shop for a day with the one day pass to see what The Stock Pile is all about.

How does The Stock Pile operate?

The Stock Pile is made possible through grants from the Board of Stark County Commissioners’ Community Development Block Grant funds and the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Joint Solid Waste Management District.  Income received through handling fees charged for materials assists in operating the program.  The Stock Pile is a project of Stark County Regional Planning Commission Services, Inc., overseen by a ten member Board of Trustees.

What can I do to help The Stock Pile?

The warehouse is always looking for volunteers 18 years or older to help move inventory, unload trucks, assist with office duties, greet members, and assist members with product selections.    Another big help is to donate your reusable building materials to The Stock Pile instead of throwing them in the trash.  Spread the word to your friends and neighbors too!  Your extras are somebody’s essentials!  For more information please call 330-455-4585.

What are some of The Stock Pile's achievements?

  • Diverted over 700 tons of reusable materials from landfills.
  • Assisted more than 1300 low to middle income families from 19 counties by providing materials for home repairs.
  • Partnered with over 195 non-profit agencies by supplying items for their projects.
  • Received:  The Department of Housing & Urban Development Recognition Award.
  • Received: The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Community Salute Award of Appreciation.
  • Received: The Dominion East Ohio Gas Community Impact Award for service to the community.
