Programs

Second Coat

Second Coat is a latex paint reprocessing program created by The Stock Pile. Partial cans of donated paint are filtered and mixed with like colors in 55-gallon drums; the paint is then repackaged into new, full gallon cans of paint and sold for $10 per gallon. By The Stock Pile accepting partial containers of paint, people are less likely to improperly dispose of their leftover paint. This program also allows members of our community to buy enough quality paint for their larger projects at a more affordable rate. Further, Second Coat provides an outlet for businesses to donate their mistint and partially used paints, saving them time and money.

The Stock Pile accepts good, reusable paint donations that meet the following criteria:

  • Latex only
  • Indoor or Outdoor
  • Less than 5 years old
  • Has never been exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Partial or Full cans

Donations can be dropped off during regular business hours Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. For large quantities of paint, The Stock Pile offers free pick-up. For more information or to schedule a donation pick-up, call us at 330-455-4585.

Second Coat is possible thanks to funding from
Stark-Tusc-Wayne Joint Solid Waste Management District.

Welcome Home

Welcome Home is a program of The Stock Pile that aims to provide Stark County residents furniture and home essentials at no cost. Through an application process, approved participants are granted a $100 voucher to shop at our store. While most seek items such as appliances, couches, and dressers the participants are also able to shop for building supplies. Welcome Home focuses on participants who are:

  • Transitioning out of homelessness
  • Transitioning out of a domestic violence situation
  • Aging out of foster care
  • Veteran or active military

Individuals who wish to participate in Welcome Home must reside in Stark County and have a caseworker or social service agency submit an application on their behalf in order to be accepted into the program. Applicants must have their caseworkers call The Stock Pile and request an application.

While The Stock Pile staff strives to approve participants in a timely manner, Welcome Home is not an emergency service. It may take several months to approve an application.

Participants are encouraged to take their items with them at the time of their appointment or arrange for them to be picked up. We do offer free local delivery (within 15 miles), but items can only be transported during their first appointment. If a participant wishes to spend their voucher at a later date, any items they chose will not qualify for the one-time-only free drop-off.

For more information contact The Stock Pile at 330-455-4585.

Please note that we do not carry mattresses, box springs, linens, clothes, or TVs.
